Police Searching for Driver Involved in Lower East Side Hit-and-Run

The driver rammed their truck into a 67-year-old man, crushing both of his legs, and then drove away, police said.

Police are still looking for a driver of a truck who on Monday hit a 67-year-old man, crushing both of the man's legs, and then fled the scene.

Police were at the intersection Tuesday morning, but there were no witnesses they had found, the Lo Down reported. They were checking security footage from the area, according to the Lo Down's police sources. The investigation is still ongoing, and no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon, the police said.

On Tuesday morning, Allen Street between East Broadway and Division streets was closed off to cars, and there was a pool of blood by a manhole in the uptown lanes, the Lo Down reported.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, police said.
