Mayor Bill de Blasio is hosting a town hall Wednesday night in the city's 1st District, which includes downtown, SoHo and the LES.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — Mayor Bill de Blasio is hosting a town hall on Wednesday night for residents of the city's first district.

You can watch the town hall live here:

De Blasio, who is up for re-election later this year, is hosting the event on the Lower East Side along with Council Member Margaret Chin, who represents the First District in City Council. Manhattan borough president Gale Brewer and U.S. Representative Nydia Velásquez, who represents neighborhoods in Manhattan and Brooklyn in Congress, will also attend, de Blasio's office said.

De Blasio is expected to face tough questions from Rivington House activists, who are still outraged over the city's handling of the scandal. Last year, Rivington House, a protected nursing home on the Lower East Side, was sold to luxury developers for $116 million. The deal was made possible because a city agency quietly approved a deed change on the property, permitting the land to switch from not-for-profit use to for-profit use. Allure Group, the for-profit nursing home company that previously owned the property at 42 Rivington St., paid $16 million to get the land's deed restriction lifted, after which they flipped the real estate and sold it to developers for $116 million.

Activists with the group Neighbors To Save Rivington House say they plan to show up in full force on Wednesday night, and press de Blasio on why the city has issued a permit allowing some removal work to be done on the property while investigations, including one by the state attorney general, into the deal continue. Activists who oppose the luxury developers' plans say all construction work should be completely halted at least until the attorney general's probe has concluded.
