Accident Prompts Ocean Avenue Shutdown

A portion of Ocean Avenue in Malverne was shut down Friday evening due to an auto accident, according to Malverne Police.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes between Hempstead Avenue and Church Street were closed to traffic at around 6 p.m., police said.

Officials said drivers should expect major delays as the accident scene is secured.

Traffic was backed up to Nassau Boulevard in West Hempstead and through Wright Avenue and Hempstead Avenue in Malverne, according to traffic reports on Google Maps.
