This Week In Rockville Centre: Fire In Basement Garbage Room, White Powder Found at CVS

The Rockville Centre Police Department released its weekly report Monday, detailing events between Jan. 5 and Jan. 11.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY. — Rockville Centre police released their report for the previous week Monday, reporting seven items between Jan. 5 and Jan. 11. The entries are as follows:

On Jan. 5 at 11:46 a.m., graffiti was reportedly found in boys bathroom stalls at South Side High School, police said.

On Jan. 5 at 9:50 p.m., a 66-year-old Brooklyn man collapsed while walking on Maple Avenue, police said. A passerby called 911 and first responders performed CPR on the man, who was hospitalized and listed in stable condition, police said.

On Jan. 7 at 5:44 p.m., police said a trash fire was reported in a basement garbage room on Banks Avenue, extinguished by the Rockville Centre Fire Department with no injuries reported and no residents displaced.

On Jan. 7 at 10:20 p.m., a man died after jumping in front of a train, police said. That investigation was taken over by MTA police, police said. The man was homeless, but had most recently used a Hauppauge address, police said.

On Jan. 9 at 4:07 p.m., police said a St. Albans resident reported the theft of his wallet from a nightstand drawer in his Maine Avenue nursing home.

On Jan. 10, the manager of a Merrick Road CVS reported finding a white powdery substance in a bag on the floor of the store, police said.

On Jan. 11, police said a New Jersey resident reported his personal information being used to fraudulently purchase an iPhone at a Sunrise Highway AT&T store.
