Apparently New York is the Least Patriotic State in the Union

Apparently the Big Apple is rotten when it comes to American pride.

We’re home to the best baseball teams, we host the biggest hot dog eating contest, and our nickname is the main ingredient in apple pie. Despite all that, The Big Apple is apparently rotten at American pride.

New York has been ranked as the least patriotic state in the union in a new study released by WalletHub.

Overall rankings were determined by averaging each state’s military and civic engagement rankings. Those two rankings were found based on percentages of “key metrics,” like residents enlisted in the military, veterans and Peace Corps volunteers per capita, and percentage of residents who voted in the 2012 presidential election.

New York had the least veterans per capita and the second lowest volunteer rate, just ahead of Louisiana, according to the report. The Big Apple also ranked No. 46 in percentage of residents who voted in the 2012 election.

New Jersey, Rhode Island, Utah, and West Virginia rounded out the bottom five patriotic states in the report.
