Brooklyn Avenue School Students Honored by Mayor Ed Fare for Community-Themed Book
Student Publication Describes What Makes Valley Stream a Great Place to Live

Last June, the second-grade class at Brooklyn Avenue School — now proud third graders — channeled their creativity and love for their hometown into a heartwarming project titled Valley Stream – A Great Place to Live. The student-created book highlights all the things they admire and appreciate about their community, from parks and local businesses to neighborhood traditions and friendly faces.
In recognition of this thoughtful work, the students and school were recently honored by Valley Stream Mayor Ed Fare. After receiving his own copy of the book, Mayor Fare presented a special citation to the school and PTA, commending them for their positive contribution to the community and for inspiring civic pride at a young age.
“This project was a meaningful way for our students to reflect on the place they call home,” said Brooklyn Avenue School Principal Dr. Scott Comis. “We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and creativity, and we’re grateful for the mayor’s recognition.”
