Car Overturns in Accident on Merrick Road

The driver of a car was injured when their vehicle overturned in an accident early Monday morning in Lynbrook.

The driver of the overturned car was able to climb out of his vehicle and was taken by an ambulance to South Nassau Hospital in Oceanside, where he was treated for an arm injury, according to Steve Grogan, Lynbrook Fire Department Spokesperson.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Merrick Road and Curtis Place at 7:40 a.m. The traffic signal at the intersection was not working and could have been a factor in the accident, Grogan said.

The driver of the second car did not require any medical assistance. Merrick Road was closed for nearly an hour, Grogan said.

The Lynbrook Fire Department's Extrication Team and the Emergency Medical Company responded to the scene under the command of Second Assistant Chief James McDermott.
