'Compassion' Track & Fielder: Lynbrook Star Student Athlete

LYNBROOK, NY — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Kim Löwenborg-Coyne who nominated her 12th grader Jack, of Lynbrook.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Jack attends Regis High School on a full tuition scholarship where he maintains a 3.78 GPA in an All Honors curriculum. A qualifier for thé NYS Cross Country Championship Meet in Wappingers Falls, NY. Captain of the Cross Country and Indoor Track teams. Has completed 175 hours of volunteer service at Sunrise Assisted Living of North Lynbrook. Jack is a licensed Therapy Dog Handler and provides reading workshops for children at local libraries as well as compassionate care visits to hospitals and facilities for the elderly with his dog, Daisy. He also cooks, preparing meals each week for the homebound parishioners of Our Lady of Peach Parish in Lynbrook.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Jack is a compassionate, patient and caring young man who exemplifies the Regis slogan “Man for Others”.
