Crime Report, Pt. II: Halloween Decorations Set on Fire; DWI Arrest

A rundown of crimes and arrests reported by Nassau County Police.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate guilt.

Valley Stream

- On Oct. 18 at 4 p.m., Scarecrow Halloween decorations were set on fire by unknown person(s) on East Beverly Parkway. 

- Sometime between 11:45 p.m. and 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 16 and Oct. 17, unknown person(s) took property from a vehicle on W. Valley Stream Boulevard.

- Sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Oct.22, unknown person(s) took property from an unlocked vehicle on Cumberland Place.

- On Oct. 16 at 11:22 a.m., an individual from Brooklyn was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart on Green Acres Road. 

- On Oct. 16 at 4:15 p.m. an individual from S. Ozone Park was arrested for shoplifting at Sears on Green Acres Road. 

- Sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 19, unknown person(s) damaged two Halloween tombstone decorations on Waters Place.

- On Oct. 23 at 4:20 a.m., Lena M. Martinez of Valley Stream was arrested and charged with DWI on W. Merrick Road.
