Fire Severely Damages Franklin Square Businesses: Police
The fire broke out just after 5 p.m. Sunday, police say.
FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY. — A fire broke out at some popular local businesses, 529 Bagels and Ralph’s Italian Ices, in Franklin Square Sunday evening, police said.
Nassau County police said the Franklin Square Fire Department was joined by neighboring departments in responding to 529 Franklin Avenue after receiving a call at 5:18 p.m. When they arrived, fire and police personnel saw heavy smoke and flames coming out of the building, officials said.
The adjoining businesses, police said, suffered severe damage, and a firefighter was treated on-scene for smoke inhalation. That smoke inhalation was the only injury reported from the fire, and the blaze was deemed non-suspicious, police said.
