Great American Train Race for Charity Takes Place in Lynbrook
Train Race Benefits FCA's Lynn Vanderhall Nursery Co-op Program

On a recent Saturday morning, Lynbrook’s iconic model train store, TrainLand, was buzzing with excitement. A group of children from Family and Children’s Association’s (FCA), Lynn Vanderhall Nursery Co-op Program were getting ready to play engineer and race model trains to help raise money for their nursery program. The Nursery Co-op program provides short-term childcare for children ages 2-5 years old, and case management for parents who are seeking to improve their individual and family circumstances.
The event was attended by the children’s families, FCA supporters, and local government officials, and enjoyed a significant audience who donated and watched the event via livestream on Facebook. Overall the Great American Train Race raised more than $9,000 in donations for Long Island’s leading health and human services nonprofit organization.
TrainLand and its sister store, TrainWorld, in Brooklyn have been run by the Bianco family since 1968. TrainLand awarded each race participant a trophy, and every family took home a model train set.
