Lynbrook H.S. Appoints New Assistant Principal
Lynbrook North history teacher takes over position formerly held by Angelo Mancuso.

has a new assistant principal.
Matthew Sarosy will be leaving, where he spent the past six years teaching American history, to accept his recent appointment to assistant principal at the high school. Sarosy fills the position left vacant when Angelo Mancuso retired after 43 years of service to the district.
Sarosy received his bachelor’s degree in history from St. John’s University and went on to complete his Master’s degree in adult education at Buffalo State College. He earned his school district leader and school building leader certificates from CW Post LIU.

He started teaching history at The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica Estates, N.Y., before becoming a faculty member of the Lynbrook school district in 2006. In 2010, he assumed the added responsibilities of teacher-in-charge for Lynbrook North Middle School, handling all disciplinary matters. He also worked cooperatively with administrators and parents to implement a district code of conduct and assisted in the implementation of the building’s character education program. In addition, Sarosy served as incident commander in all emergency situations. He was named a 2012 Lynbrook PTA Founders Day honoree.
