Lynbrook's Wren Named Scholar-Athlete of the Week
Senior volleyball star honored by News 12 for all-around ability, earns $1,000 scholarship.

Lynbrook High School senior Shannon Wren was named a News 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
She was chosen based on her athletic and academic achievements, extracurricular activities and leadership qualities. Wren received a $1,000 scholarship award from Bethpage Federal Credit Union, which sponsors the program.
Wren, a four-year varsity volleyball player and two-year captain, helped lead her team to the county championship in 2014 and the Nassau finals in 2015. She has earned all-class, all-tournament and all-county honors and is a two-time all-state selection. She also plays for the Club Ace Long Island travel team.

She is a hard worker in the classroom as well. Wren has a 95.12 unweighted average, with an SAT score of 2040 and an ACT mark of 31. She is a member of the National Honor Society and treasurer of the National Art Honor Society. She also participates in Athletes Creating Excellence and the Owl Buddies Club.
In addition to her school activities, Wren volunteers at St. Francis Hospital and Winthrop University Hospital, assisting nurses in the general ward and neonatal unit. Wren has committed to play volleyball at Molloy College next year, and plans to major in nursing.
