Malverne PD: Man Shot with BB Gun at Herber Middle School

A weekly rundown of arrests and case reports from the Malverne Police Department.

The following information was supplied by the Malverne Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests

  • On May 24 at 11 p.m., a Glen Oaks man was observed making an illegal U-turn on Hempstead Avenue. A New York State license check revealed the driver’s New York State driving privileges were suspended. The driver was placed under arrest by a Malverne police officer and transported to Malverne Police headquarters for processing. The driver was released on an appearance ticket and bail.
  • On May 25 at 10:05 a.m., a Lynbrook man was observed operating a vehicle not wearing his seatbelt on Ocean Avenue. A check of the driver revealed he had a First District Court warrant. The driver was placed under arrest by a Malverne police officer and transported to Malverne Police headquarters for processing. He was then transported to Nassau County Police headquarters to be housed until the morning for arraignment.  
  • On May 30 at 2:56 a.m., a Franklin Square man was arrested by a  Malverne police officer and charged with making graffiti. The defendant was transported to Malverne Police headquarters for processing and released on an appearance ticket.

Case Reports
  • On May 25 at 1:34 a.m., a Bond Avenue resident reported that he parked his vehicle in his driveway at approximately 12 a.m. When he returned to his vehicle at 1:30 a.m., he observed that the driver’s side window had been broken and an unknown person(s) entered his vehicle and removed his GPS, cell phone, nail gun, hammer drill and his vehicle registration. The Malverne Police Department is investigating.
  • On May 29 at 2:30 p.m., a Lynbrook man reported being the victim of an assault that occurred at Howard T Herber Middle School on May 24 at 3:30 p.m. The victim stated that he was approached by a group of males on school property, when one male pulled out a black BB gun and fired approximately six to eight rounds at the complainant, striking him in his left arm and the left side of his rib cage. The victim sustained a welt to his left arm and a laceration to his rib cage. The Malverne Police department is investigating.
