Malverne Teacher Sole Winner of Fellows New Teacher Award

By Danielle Lambert

Shannon Kelly, a science teacher at Malverne High School and new member of the Science Teachers Association of New York State, was awarded the organization’s Fellows New Teacher Conference Award.

The award is given to a nominated second- through fifth-year teacher who has never attended the conference before and who would benefit from participation. Shannon was nominated by Howard T. Herber Middle School science teacher Donna Banek.

“Attending the STANYS Conference afforded me the opportunity to expand my repertoire of teaching tools, converse with veteran teachers, and enhance my own awareness of changing technologies, curricula and educational methodologies,” Ms. Kelly said of the experience.
