Man Charged With DWI After Crash Leaves Pedestrian Critically Injured: PD

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY. — A Queens man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated Saturday after a crash left a 66-year-old woman in critical condition, police said.

According to Nassau County police, Adrian Raghunanan, 26, was operating a pickup truck at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Denton Avenue in East Rockaway Friday evening when the truck struck the woman.

Upon investigation, Raghunanan was found to have been driving while intoxicated; he was arrested. and charged with second-degree vehicular assault and DWI, police said.

Department officials said Monday morning that the woman’s condition had not changed.
