Meet West Hempstead's New Assistant Superintendent

The Board of Ed appointed West Hempstead High School's principal as the new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction.

At its July 7 reorganization meeting, the West Hempstead Board of Education appointed Daniel M. Rehman as the district’s new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction.

Mr. Rehman, a resident of Huntington Station, most recently served as principal at West Hempstead High School, a position he held for four years. Under Mr. Rehman’s leadership, he has met academic standards, stressed the importance of education and encouraged students to become critical independent thinkers.

Prior to being principal at West Hempstead High School, Mr. Rehman served two years as principal of Chestnut Street School. Before joining the West Hempstead School District, Mr. Rehman worked for 12 years in the Plainview-Old Bethpage school district. During his tenure there, Mr. Rehman held a number of positions, including a first-grade and sixth-grade teacher, mathematics, science and technology education leader (MSTe), a math staff developer and an assistant principal.

Mr. Rehman received his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from the University of Richmond and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Adelphi University.

“Thank you to all who have made this opportunity possible,” said Mr. Rehman. “I am excited to continue my career with the West Hempstead School District and look forward to transitioning into my new role. I am eager to continue the district’s tradition of providing an excellent education and myriad of opportunities for students.”

Superintendent of Schools John Hogan welcomed Mr. Rehman as the new assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, stating, “We welcome Mr. Rehman to his new position and believe his passion for student success will grow as he continues to serve the West Hempstead community.”

In addition to appointing Mr. Rehman, the Board re-elected Karen Brohm as president and Vincent Trocchia as vice president at the reorganization meeting.
