ELMONT, N.Y. — A Michigan man faces felony charges Monday morning after police say he injured a 59-year-old woman and two police officers Sunday night.

Nassau County police say 59-year-old Pontiac, MI resident James D. Nelson struck the woman in the face and head with a closed fist and caused damage to her television in an argument. Officers responded to a disturbance call related to the incident at a residence on Norfeld Boulevard at 9:30 p.m.

"Upon police arrival, the defendant was located but he became violent and combative causing injuries to two officers," police said in a news release, "forcing them to utilize an Electronic Control Device, ECD (taser) and Oleoresin Capsicum Spray (OC Spray), which successfully allowed them to place him into custody."
