Nassau Church Burglary; Money Stolen From Donation Box: Police

The man fled without being caught, police said.

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY —Police are searching for a man responsible for a church burglary on Tuesday night in Franklin Square.

Just before 10 p.m., the unknown man unlawfully entered St. Catherine of Sienna Church at 990 Holzheimer Street, police said.

The man forced open a locked basement door, authorities said.

While inside, he pried open a donation box and removed an unknown amount of cash, police said. He then fled the scene.

Surveillance video shows the man was wearing a white hat with a blue brim, brown sweater, black pants and a black face covering.
