Nearly 3K Lynbrook LIPA Customers Lose Power [Updated]

Long Island Power Authority reporting two major outages in village Friday afternoon.

UPDATE: 3:52 p.m. The power is back on for most of the 2,576 LIPA customers in Lynbrook who lost power Friday afternoon. LIPA reports that 434 residents are still awaiting restoration, which should occur by 4:30 p.m. 

UPDATE: 3:42 p.m. Power has been restored to more than 1,100 LIPA customers in Lynbrook who lost power Friday afternoon, but 1,421 are still impacted by the outages. LIPA expects to restore power for the rest of its Lynbrook customers by 4 p.m.

The Long Island Power Authority is reporting two major power outrages in Lynbrook Friday afternoon that have hundreds of residents in the dark.

As of 3 p.m., 2,576 LIPA customers in Lynbrook are without power.

The cause is not known at this time. A downed wire was reported on Denton Avenue and an auto accident on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.
