Obit: West Hempsteader Gerard Egal, 58, Dies

Devoted husband, brother and uncle will be mourned at services on July 25 and 26.

West Hempstead resident Gerard Egal passed away this week at the age of 58.

Egal was a beloved husband to Anne Garsia-Egal, a devoted brother, brother-in-law and uncle, according to an obituary published in Newsday Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife, his siblings -- Jane (Hal), Mary, Monica (Ed), Christine (Mario), Walter and Martin, their spouses -- Mary (Lory), Cathy, Chrissy (Charlie), Peggy (Fred), Susie (Wilhelm), John and Richard (Marcie) -- and many nieces and nephews including Tony, Nick, Ryland, Bobby and Zach. His brother John is predeceased.

Visitation services will be held Wednesday, July 25, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. at (539 Hempstead Ave., West Hempstead). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at (Westminster Rd., West Hempstead).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Recanati-Miller Transplantation Institute, One Gustave Levy Place, PO Box 1104, New York, NY 10029-6574.
