Officers Assaulted By Nassau Man Needing Medical Attention: Police
Hurguens Jasmin, 28, was charged for the Saturday afternoon incident, police said.
ELMONT, NY — An Elmont man, who needed medical attention, was arrested over the weekend after assaulting a police officer, authorities said.
Police attempted to escort Hurguens Jasmin, 28, from his bedroom on Saturday afternoon, Nassau police said.
Jasmin punched the officer on his face, causing swelling, a headache and pain, police said.

While placing him in custody, Jasmin tensed up his body and tucked his arms under his chest, police said. He was ultimately subdued and arrested, police said.
A dagger was spotted in his apartment, authorities said.

A second officer suffered lacerations and bleeding to his left hand and elbow. Both officers were taken to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Jasmin is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest. He was expected to be arraigned on Sunday.
