PHOTOS: Lions Bring Spring Street Fair to West Hempstead
West Hempstead Lions host festival on Westminster Road.
West Hempstead's along Nassau Boulevard is one of the community's most popular events, but on Sunday a new tradition was born.
The West Hempstead Lions hosted their first spring street festival on June 10 on Westminster Road.
From Hempstead Turnpike to Hempstead Avenue, the street was packed with vendors selling handcrafted jewelry, handbags, shoes, clothing, accessories and other unique items. Many local groups including the West Hempstead Lions, as well as the Chamber of Commerce, Community Support Association and the Scouts, also had a presence at the fair.

Kids enjoyed bouncing around in several inflatable jungle gyms and aboard a motorized surfboard. They visited with animals at a petting zoo set-up outside and met some exotic creatures from Tanglewood's Center for Science Teaching and Learning.

Fair-goers were also entertained by a live musician and a professional juggler who also showed off some magic tricks.
