WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — The shooting of a state trooper on the Southern State Parkway is being investigated for "certain inconsistencies," Nassau District Attorney Anne Donnelly said in a statement on Monday.

Trooper Thomas Mascia was shot by someone in a parked vehicle on Wednesday night while patrolling on the highway near Exit 17.

"Investigators are currently executing a search warrant at Trooper Mascia’s residence," a state police spokesperson said on Monday.

Mascia, 27, was discharged from a hospital on Friday.
