Shots Fired Into Nassau Smoke Shop; Shooter Sought: Police

The incident happened Monday afternoon on Hempstead Turnpike, police said.

ELMONT, NY — Shots were fired Monday afternoon into an Elmont store and the subject is on the loose, police said.

Police responded to a Shot Spotter notification in the vicinity of Hempstead Turnpike and Elmont Road. Officers observed several shots had been fired into the storefront of N2 Smoke and Cigar Shop on Hempstead Turnpike.

Further investigation revealed that an unknown man wearing dark clothing was responsible for the shooting, authorities said.

He fled on foot eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike.

There were no injuries reported. Police ask anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
