Unofficial Results Published In District 9 Race Between Strauss, Chin

The race became one of the closer on Tuesday's County Legislature slate, still being decided by over 10 percentage points.

FLORAL PARK, NY. — After receiving 9,038 votes in unofficial tallies, Republican Scott Strauss has won reelection to the 9th district in the Nassau County Legislature.

Strauss won with 55.58 percent of all votes cast, while Democrat challenger Juleigh Chin received 7,212, equivalent to 44.35 percent of the votes. The former Mineola mayor and September 11 veteran currently chairs the county legislature’s minority affairs committee and vice chairs the public safety and government services committees. He will be part of an 11-member majority in the new county legislature.

Results in the election are unofficial until certified by the County Board of Elections. Further information on all of Tuesday’s elections can be found through the Nassau County Board of Elections and the New York State Board of Elections.
