Valley Stream 24 School District Hosts Successful Meet Your Teacher Night

The Valley Stream 24 School District proudly welcomed parents and guardians into their classrooms across all three schools for their annual Meet Your Teacher Night. The cherished tradition engages families in their children’s education and celebrates the district’s ongoing commitment to fostering strong partnerships between schools and families.

The event saw an outstanding turnout, as families joined teachers and staff for an engaging evening designed to kick off the new school year on a high note. Educators at William L. Buck School, Robert W. Carbonaro School and Brooklyn Avenue School delivered thoughtful and informative presentations that highlighted key instructional programs, classroom expectations, and the wide range of social-emotional supports available to students. Parents also had the opportunity to ask questions and gain firsthand insight into the learning environments their children will enjoy throughout the year.

A standout moment of the evening was a special presentation on sixth-grade departmentalization, newly introduced this year. Sixth-grade teachers offered families a comprehensive look at how the new model prepares students for middle school by providing exposure to multiple subject-area teachers. This approach also helps cultivate student independence, responsibility and readiness for the academic challenges ahead.

The evening served as a powerful reflection of Valley Stream 24’s core values: community, learning, and excitement for the future. With such a strong start to the year, the district looks forward to continued collaboration with families and another year of meaningful growth and achievement.
