Valley Stream 24 School District Kicks Off 2025–2026 School Year with Enthusiasm

Students across the Valley Stream 24 School District began the 2025–2026 school year on September 3rd

Students across the Valley Stream 24 School District began the 2025–2026 school year on September 3rd with excitement and energy. The halls of Brooklyn Avenue Elementary School, Robert W. Carbonaro Elementary School, and William L. Buck Elementary School were filled with smiles as teachers and staff welcomed students back, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Unal Karakas visited classrooms across the district to greet students and staff, joined by Dr. Christopher Keogh, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and the building principals. To support a smooth first day, faculty and staff facilitated conversations with students about their experiences, helping them feel welcomed and prepared.

This year marks a continued focus on advancing the district’s Vision 2030 goals, with an emphasis on creating innovative and nurturing learning environments where all students feel supported and inspired to grow. The Board of Education’s ongoing investment in district initiatives has played a key role in making these opportunities possible.
