Valley Stream 24 School District Looks to the Future on Superintendent’s Conference Day

The Valley Stream 24 School District welcomed back staff for the 2025–2026 academic year during its annual Superintendent's Conference Day

The Valley Stream 24 School District proudly welcomed back staff for the 2025–2026 academic year during its annual Superintendent’s Conference Day, setting a forward-looking tone for a year centered on innovation, student well-being, and future-ready learning.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Unal Karakas opened the day with a warm welcome and shared important initiatives designed to support student learning, safety, and engagement. This year’s keynote speaker was Ray McNulty, President of the Successful Practices Network and former Vermont Commissioner of Education. Mr. McNulty inspired staff with his vision for education in the digital age, emphasizing the growing role of artificial intelligence and the responsibility of educators to guide students in developing healthy, balanced relationships with technology. He encouraged educators to use technology to enhance learning and prepare students for the 21st Century.

Through interactive discussions and collaborative problem-solving, McNulty underscored how schools can prepare students to succeed in a rapidly changing world by prioritizing thoughtful planning for the future. He connected his message to Valley Stream 24’s Vision 2030 initiative, which blends hands-on learning in technology, digital media, and data analysis with a strong focus on curiosity, empathy, and community engagement.
