William L. Buck School in the Valley Stream 24 School District was recently awarded the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) "No Place for Hate" designation for the third year in a row, underscoring the school’s commitment to inclusivity, compassion and acceptance.

“This recognition is a testament to the inclusive, respectful environment we strive to create every day,” said William L. Buck School Principal Michael DeBlasio. “A special thank you and recognition goes to Mrs. Traci Ritterband, whose dedication, vision, and leadership have been instrumental in ensuring that every student feels seen, valued, and respected.”

A dedicated committee of fifth and sixth-grade students at William L. Buck School, led by advisor Ms. Ritterband, spearheaded the initiatives required to earn the “No Place for Hate” designation. Their work began with a schoolwide pep rally, where students took the “No Place for Hate” pledge. Throughout the year, the committee planned events and activities focused on fostering inclusive and welcoming classrooms for all.
