VIDEO: Queen Tribute Band Rocks West Hempstead

Hundreds of Queen fans backed in West Hempstead Tuesday night to listen to their favorite songs from the 1970s British rock band.

No, ofcourse the late Freddie Mercury and is bandmates were not actually in Long Island this week, but nevertheless, fans found somebodies to love in the tribute band, Almost Queen.

The group, which tours all over the country, includes Joseph Russo, who, clad in a "Flash" shirt, perfectly channels Mercury's vocals and piano skills; guitarists Randy Gregg and Steve Leonard as John Deacon and Brian May, respectively, and John Cappadona, filling Roger Taylor's seat behind the drums. Together they brought the sounds and excitement of a live 1970s Queen concert to a packed ballpark on Nassau Boulevard, playing favorites like "Flash" and "Somebody to Love."

The show was part of the free summer concert series sponsored by the Town of Hempstead and was hosted in conjuction with National Night Out, a program that encourages community members to come together and learn about ways to prevent crime and drug abuse in their neighborhood. Nassau County Police officers were on hand to distribute flyers and information, and answer residents' questions about ways to combat local crime.
