Village of Malverne Receives $75,000 for Housing Rehab

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano recently announced the award of $75,000 in Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the Village of Malverne to focus on housing rehabilitation.

“These Federal funds allow my administration to partner with Village of Malverne Mayor Patricia Norris McDonald to maintain the stock of affordable housing by providing loans and/or grants to low and moderate income homeowners," Mangano said in a release. 

Homeowners will be afforded the opportunity to have a licensed contractor eliminate code violations and to make other needed improvements to their home, Mangano added.

Malverne Mayor Patricia Norris-McDonald said she is grateful for the increase in aid.

"The slow economic recovery has placed substantial burdens on our most vulnerable residents and we look forward to continuing support from Federal and county sources," she said.
