2 Killed As Car Slams Into Trees on Southern State Parkway: Police
The vehicle was traveling Monday night at "excessive speed," New York State police say.

NORTH MASSAPEQUA, NY — Two people were killed when a car collided with trees on the Southern State Parkway Monday night in North Massapequa, state police said.
Just before 9 p.m., the 2003 Nissan 350z was seen engulfed in flames after slamming into trees eastbound near exit 29 for Hicksville Road. Troopers found one victim, later identified as Brayan Antonio Benitez-Benitez, 21, of Mineola, lying outside of the vehicle, police said.
An unidentified passenger was also found deceased inside the vehicle, state police said.

An investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling at excessive speed, police said. The state police's Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Collision Restruction Unit responded to the scene.
