2 Sharks Spotted at Tobay Beach
The sharks were spotted late Thursday morning and were heading east, police say.
Two sharks were spotted at Tobay Beach late Thursday morning, according to Nassau County Police.
Officials received a call at 11:49 a.m. reporting a shark sighting at the packed Massapequa beach, cops said. Police dispatched a helicopter and confirmed two sharks were swimming near the beach.
The sharks were about 6-feet long and were seen 15 feet from the shore, cops said. Pilots said they continued swimming east toward Gilgo Beach.

As a safety precaution, all beach goers were evacuated from the water until officials deemed it safe to swim, cops said.
