Centenarian Dies From Injuries Sustained In Crash With NCPD Cruiser
Police say the man turned in front of a squad car that was on its way to respond to a call.
MASSAPEQUA, NY — A centenarian who was injured in a car crash with a Nassau County police vehicle in Massapequa last week has died from his injuries, police said.
According to police, a Nassau County Police Department patrol car was driving south on Hicksville Road at 8:23 a.m., responding to an emergency call, on Dec. 9. Police say a 2012 Hyundai Elantra heading north tried to make a left turn onto North Suffolk Avenue and was hit by the police car.
Police say the driver of the Hyundai was 102-year-old Morris Sprachman, of Seaford. He died from his injuries on Dec. 16.

Sprachman graduated from high school in 1939, and served aboard a destroyer repair ship in the Navy in World War II. He and his wife, Lola, had two sons.
