Cops Arrest Two in H&M Store Robbery

Nassau Police charge two women in connection with May robbery attempt at Massapequa retailer.

Two women who fought their way free after attempting to shoplift clothes from the in May have been arrested, according to Nassau County Police.

Anise Matthew, 21, of West Babylon, was arrested Thursday. Tishawri Tate, 21, of Amityville, surrendered to police on Saturday. Both are charged with second degree robbery.

The women are alleged to have taken two shirts, valued at $39.90, from clothing retailer  on May 26. When a loss prevention officer confronted the women outside the store, police say the defendants punched the officer in the head and neck.

The women fled without the merchandise at approximately 7:45 p.m. while the loss prevention officer was not injured, police said.   

Tate will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday. Matthew was previously arraigned.

Coincidentally, the Sunrise Mall retailer was the target of another incident on the same day. Police charged Asim Henry, 22, of Amityville, with third degree assault at H&M after 9:20 p.m. It's unclear if the same officer was involved.
