Dogs Gone Wild at Massapequa Preserve
Caught on video: Owners let dogs roam free at Massapequa Preserve.
Dogs barking aggressively. Dogs roaming in tandem. And all of them unleashed.
That's what one videographer caught again and again at the Massapequa Preserve, posting the clip to YouTube in the hope something could be done to curb the canine free-for-all.
"No unleashed dogs are allowed in the Massapequa Preserve," YouTube poster savethepreserve17 wrote. "Good luck getting the authorities to do anything about it."

In fact, no dogs are allowed at Nassau County parks or preserves, according to the county.
Is a crackdown needed on the grounds of the county-run preserve? Or should dogs be allowed to run free?

Watch the video, which makes a compelling case.
Update: Mary Studdert, from the Press Department at Eisenhower Park, told Patch: "Being that it is a Preserve and not an active Park with an administration building etc. we do not have staff there 24/7, therefore we do not sweep the Preserve. As far as enforcing the no dog law that is a joint effort between Public Safety, who would only be sent there if there is an immediate complaint, as well as the 7th Precinct who patrols the area."
