Don't Look Back...
Biblical times were precarious.
Blaring danger, abuse, oppression, submission, armies and thieves usurping one's property, and rampant voicelessness of the innocent, all existed amidst God's word, wisdom, and whispers.

Overtly faithful Abraham heard and heeded God's directives even when personal dire circumstances conflicted and confused him and obliged to the unthinkable task of sacrificing his long-awaited son, Isaac.
Abraham acquiesced with profound anguish and devastating sorrow and was about to slaughter his only child when an angel intervened to halt the annihilation.

Sometimes, following God's commands can be atrociously difficult.
Family quibbles also pervaded and added to the treacherous landscape dividing households, specifically engineering the split between Abraham and his benevolent nephew, Lot, who was transplanted in a nefarious community called Sodom.
Keeping the faith and our ears open to the Lord's commands can be blunted by continuous daily strife especially when the decrees are in stark opposition to what we desire and believe.
A caring and loving man, Abraham interceded and bargained with God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah for the few guiltless that dwelled there, and God stated that He would shelter the upstanding.
Abraham's musings, insistence, and determination resonated with the goodness of God, and solidified Abraham's place as a pivotal and admirable leader and father of endless descendants.
The Almighty's angels admonished Lot and his family to quickly flee and not to look back as the city was to be imminently decimated.
Sadly, Lot's wife disobeyed the Lord's edict by turning back to witness the ravaging ruination and was instantaneously converted to a pillar of salt.
What impetus persuaded her to look back, morbid curiosity, concern, fear, or man's flaw to do as he pleases?
God means business; His words are not inconsequential.
As the Eternal One's children, we continually grapple with obedience particularly when the request is not in alignment with our relegated standards.
This dwindling faith further installs rigid barriers, that sufficiently suffocate our ability to consent, thereby dulling our sensitivities and fortifying resistance to His words and guidance.
We are always being prompted by the Holy One as He is intricately and eternally present.
Looking back proved to be a cautionary tale that zapped Lot's wife and does not serve us in modern times either.
When we focus on and scrutinize our past, it jars memories and stimulates biochemical reactions that can evoke angst, regret, and even trigger prior traumatic experiences.
Many of us ruminate incessantly, regurgitating and rehashing previous shortcomings, errors, and failures all the while inadvertently and ceaselessly fanning the flames of unresolved emotional trauma that ignite physical inflammation and ailments.
God proclaimed good advice then, and since the Bible is the Living Word of God, it should still be observed.
Be prudent.
What are you ready to release?
Forward is the prescribed path.
Onward, my friends, onward.
