Food Drive Coming To Massapequa Sept. 17 And 18

Your donations will go to helping Long Islanders who are facing food insecurity.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Assemblyman Michael Durso, in partnership with Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank, is holding a food drive on Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days at Shop Rite, located at 5508 Sunrise Highway in Massapequa.

Durso is asking local residents and community organizations to donate non-perishable food and drinks as well as baby food and formula. All items collected will be donated to Long Island Cares and distributed to local food pantries, veteran agencies, mobile delivery services, senior centers and many more. For more information, contact Durso’s office at 516-541-4598.

“Over 300,000 Long Islanders are food insecure and hungry,” Durso said. “Record-high food prices, inflation and the high cost of living have drastically increased the need for food assistance. We must come together as a community and support our less fortunate neighbors.”
