Groundhog Day...

is today, Sunday, February 2nd.

The highly publicized and anticipated event is the first intimation that the glorious promise of warmer weather could be on the imminent horizon to eagerly thaw the present chill.

With thermostats still elevated and scarves an accessorized wintry necessity, viewers pressed their noses to televising screens to witness if hibernating Phil, the furry marmot from Punxsutawney Pennsylvania, or the more local Malverne Mel, reared his sleepy head to indicate whether spring will arrive early which is guided by modest scientific calculation and an earth shaking dependance upon the observance of his shadow or not.

As the ultimate prognosticator of impending warmth, deemed by mere mortals to be endowed with supernatural powers, these iconic animals are credited with keeping onlookers entranced by their penchant for predictability.

Even though unburrowed Phil is correct approximately forty percent of the time, the native residents tout his unmistakable accuracy.

The promise of an early spring fills every lifeform with anticipation and hopefulness.

This sage meteorologist is the requisite celebrity to prepare the way for spring.

Alas, preparation can be hard work.

Biblical times relied on John the Baptist to prepare the way for the Lord, and he unceasingly clarifying that he was only clearing the path for the One who was to come.

He was a living verbal sign for his generation.

Often unwittingly, we encounter assorted Divine signs but are distracted, out of sync spiritually, or choose avoidance, thereby losing these vital opportunities for specific individual interpretation and action.

Since these harbingers are usually subtle, and can be easily missed or dismissed, they require a pervasive attentiveness.

Carefully placed synchronicities and signals lead us to a designated path, and proper support and cooperation on our part boasts enrichment and wisdom.

Preparation can also be concealed like Jesus tucked safely in Mary's loving womb or the peacefully sleeping Groundhog deep within Mother Earth's nurturing bodice.

These more obscure imperceptible incubations are kept safe and even though hidden will eventually emerge forth filled with purpose, conviction, and endorsement.

We are always waiting for cues to guide the next move: to seek a better job, to terminate hostile relationships, to make any sort of improvement or necessary change.

We can be unmovable and unfaithful until they appear.

Faith is bound with trust and an essential knowingness that the Creator will not lead you astray.

Recall Jesus stated that a mustard seed's worth is all that is required.

God has prepared the way for you.

Heed His signs.

By the way, Phil saw his shadow early this morning sadly predicting six more weeks of blustery frigidity. Contrary to our displeasure, the snowmen are thrilled.
