An Important

Dignity is a word that most likely was always in my vocabulary but rarely utilized or even thought about until recently,

Now it is seemingly overused on a daily basis as I grope to maneuver the challenges of growing old.

John O’Donahue’s quote reaffirms the importance of maintaining dignity despite all the challenges of longevity.

“May you have great dignity.

Sense how free you are.

Above all, may you be given the wonderful gift of meeting the eternal light that is within you.

May you be blessed."

And the words written by the famed poet, scholar and priest are far more meaningful than a quick peek into a thesaurus or dictionary.

Rather they are a succinct reminder of what often may be forgotten as I travel the winding path of life God has assigned each and every one of His children.

He has given me eternal light within that prevents the dark night of the soul from taking possession making me a victim rather than a member of His beloved family.

And that needed reminder gives more importance to the word dignity.
