LI Food Drive Gets Underway Friday At Massapequa Stop & Shop
PSEG Long Island's Power to Feed Long Island will hold seven events this summer.
MASSAPEQUA, NY — A summer food drive is kicking off Friday in Massapequa. PSEG Long Island, Stop & Shop and Island Harvest are joining forces to help feed hungry Long Islanders.
It's the first of seven food collection events at Stop & Shop supermarkets to benefit the Island Harvest Food Bank.
Collection bins and a drive-thru will be set up at Stop & Shop on the corner of Hicksville Road and Jerusalem Avenue on Friday.

Island Harvest is seeking:
- Nonperishable food: Canned foods, such as low-sodium beans, vegetables, soups, pasta sauces and tomato varieties, tuna and chicken, along with rice and pasta
- Household essentials: Toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent and dish soap
- Personal care items: Toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, shampoo, conditioner, feminine care products and shaving products, antibacterial wipes and washcloths
- Baby care items: Diapers, wipes, formula, creams, ointments and baby wash
- Pet food and supplies
