Lindenhurst Man Faces Arson Charges After Tuesday Morning Arrest: Police

Police say they found a fire in a Massapequa Park home's carport early Tuesday morning.

MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY. — A Lindenhurst man faces arson charges after police officers found a fire burning in a Massapequa Park home's carport, police said Tuesday.

Nassau County Police Department’s arson bomb squad reported that the incident leading to the arrest occurred at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, when officers were notified of a disturbance at a residence on Park Lane. Upon arrival, the officers noticed a small fire in the house’s attached carport and extinguished the flames, police said. After investigating the property, officers arrested 46-year-old Kevin Seymour, police said.

Seymour was hospitalized following the incident and treated for smoke inhalation, police said. No further injuries were reported, police said. Seymour now faces charges of second-degree attempted arson, third-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree arson, police said. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday, police said.
