MASSAPEQUA, NY. — McKenna Elementary School’s Student Ambassadors club helped community members stay warm this winter, organizing the “Bundle Up Bonanza” from Dec. 15 to Dec. 22 to send winter clothes to people in need.

The drive accepted new hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and socks in boxes in McKenna’s main lobby, with all donations going to Our Lady of Lourdes’ parish outreach center. The drive was organized with help from faculty advisor Olivia Belfiore, with members of Student Ambassadors creating promotional materials themselves. The materials were posted around the school, and Student Ambassadors promoted the clothing drive during morning announcements daily.

“For people who can’t afford winter accessories, they can now stay warm during the
winter,” fifth grader Lucy O’Brien said.
