
The Massapequa School District took one step closer to normalcy Tuesday with the announcement that Lockhart Elementary School will re-open on Wednesday.
Power was restored to the school, but the Birch Lane Elementary School was still in the dark and will remained closed on Wednesday, school officials said.
Before and after school activities will be canceled for the entire week, but bus transportation will be available. There will be no late buses, but YMCA child care will be available in all elementary schools except Birch Lane.

Alternate evening classes for high school students will run as normal, officials said.
The Massapequa senior Center at McKenna Elementary School will be canceled Wednesday, Sunday and again next Wednesday.
