Man In Critical Condition After Massive Nassau House Fire
Firefighters pulled the man from the basement. Two others escaped and suffered smoke inhalation.
MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — One person is in critical condition after they were rescued from the basement of a burning home Tuesday evening.
Police say the fire started in the home on Eastlake Avenue in Massapequa Park at 4:35 p.m. Massapequa firefighters rescued a 58-year-old man from the basement of the home. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, and are in critical condition.
Two other residents of the house managed to make it out on their own. They were taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, and are expected to recover.

One firefighter was treated at the scene by a paramedic for exhaustion.
Police and the Nassau County Fire Marshal are still investigating the cause of the fire.
