Man Seriously Hurt In Crash With Flatbed On Sunrise Highway

The 68-year-old man was trying to drive his car across Sunrise Highway when it was struck by a flatbed truck Friday morning.

A 68-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash in Massapequa Park Friday morning, police said.

According to police, the was driving a 2015 Dodge and attempting to cross Sunrise Highway when his car was struck by a 2007 Kenworth flatbed truck at the intersection of Carol Drive.

The flatbed had been traveling east on Sunrise Highway. The 68-year-old man suffered head trauma and was transported in a Nassau County Police ambulance for treatment at a local hospital.

There were no injuries reported to the 38-year-old driver of the flatbed. The 2015 Dodge was impounded for a brake and safety check. The investigation is ongoing.
