Massapequa's 2012 Homecoming Queen is used to the spotlight, but on Saturday she had it to herself.
Massapequa High School senior Shannon Cooney, is the daughter of singer Andy Cooney, the popular Irish tenor, who has performed around the world as well as numerous times in the Massapequa area.
"It's an amazing experience to have for my senior year," said Shannon, who learned of the selection Thursday, prior to Friday's official announcement at the school's pep rally.
