Massapequa Crime Report: Car Theft in the Area

Dec. 1 to Dec. 11

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Car Thefts

On Dec. 5, a car was stolen from the Parking lot of Walmart at the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, police said. The 2009 Nissan Maxima was stolen at about 9 p.m.

On Dec. 10, a 2005 gray Mini Cooper was stolen from the parking lot of a rental car agency at 4700 Sunrise Highway, police said.

Grand Larceny

On Dec. 9, a North Massapequa man was contacted by a scammer who claimed a family member had been kidnapped, held hostage or involved in an auto accident. The victim was told to wire money to the scammer.

Theft From Auto

On Dec. 10, A wallet, cash a gym bags and other items were solen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway on Park Lane, police said. 

Petty Larceny

On Nov. 17, a  thief stole cash from a safe in a kiosk at the Westfield Sunrise Mall.
