It's been a tough year for Massapequa as it continues to recover from Hurricane Sandy, but there's also much to celebrate.
The area is rebounding from the storm and we've seen incredible examples of generosity and heroism from our neighbors.
On Saturday, the community will come together and celebrate what we've overcome.
The event, sponsored by YES Community Counseling Center, Massapequa Schools, the PTA and the Chamber of Commerce is called "Massapequa Breathes." It will be held Saturday at Berner Middle School from 12:30p.m. to 4p.m.
It will feature food, games, and heroes of Hurricane Sandy will be honored.
YES director Jamie Bogenschutz sat down with Patch to tell us about the big day.
